HOW TO CHOOSE A RUG?
What is the current style of the decor– does the decor of the area require a specific kind of rug?Color palette – what colors already exist in the intended space with which rug could be coordinated
Measure!
Before you start looking at rugs you need to measure the dimensions of your room or outdoor patio area to work out the approximate space you have for a rug and any constraints you have (door openings, obstructions etc).
Bigger the better!
A small rug can make a room look small and its elements disconnected. When in doubt, go for a bigger size to help tie everything together.
Space rule!
The carpet must not overlap the walls of the room. There should be enough space. Ideally, your feet should have landing space with a natural texture and rugs need to be 6 inches extra from your furniture length.
Outdoor Patio/ Indoor Living
The arrangement of the rug could be both just below the center table or with the entire patio set placed above the rug. Another rule is, having the front legs of the patio on the rug in order to keep the entire setting connected.
Dining Area
The rug is supposed to be placed entirely below the table and chairs, in order to avoid any tripping. Advised to use a rug, 2-3ft bigger than the table, 1ft extending outwards
Bedroom Area
The rug could be placed covering the lower ends of the bed so as to keep the area connected, Typically, not under nightstands. preferred sizes, 8 x 10ft for Queen, 9 x 12ft for king.
